Resale Deals

Quick profile of resellers

Most SAAS resale buyers are savvy and know what to look for when buying resale products. Here are some tips for users from a product perspective

  1. Check the price. The easiest way is to go to dealcode.org and check the prices for the same product and appropriate tier. You can also do a search for the product in FB posts to get an idea
  2. Check discontinued products ensure your product is not on the list
  3. Check the known issues e.g. email change not possible etc.
  4. Go to the product website and check if the copyright year is most recent
  5. If the website has blogs, check when the blog was updated
  6. Check social media especially FB groups for feedback
  7. Contact support and ask any question and check lead times for response
  8. Check if your needs are met. e.g. API's provided, limits, upgrades etc.
  9. Dont believe the hype that you see online as lot of them are affiliated links
  10. Affiliated products will have low resale value
  11. Take a test run if a free demo is available
  12. Check G2, Capterra, Trust Pilot and possibly product Hunt

This not an exhaustive list, but based on past experience of a few LTD buyers

When we built a site for listing resale deals we identified a few profiles of buyers. It is not an exhaustive analysis and more based on a cursory analysis rather than exotic market tools.

  1. Negotiator : Looking for a specific deal but will troll different groups to find the best deals and will wait for the price
  2. Trader: Has an existing list of deals (some of which are low traction) and is looking to trade not buy all the time
  3. Lone ranger: Pops up every now and then with a single trade request
  4. Business analyst : Has a business problem and defines it but is not sure which tool to buy. Requests opinions and then decides
  5. Seeker: Always looking for a deal to add to his inventory, quite often not realising s/he may already have a similar tool
  6. Enthusiast: Looking to buy deals on platforms and having missed it shows up to buy on second thought
  7. Full stack buyers: Like a product and feel there's potential to re-sell them in the future in a particular niche
  8. Regret/remorse : Wanted a product and sometimes refunded it only to realise later that it had more potential than they knew
  9. Scavengers: Looking for a deal at the lowest price possible
  10. Follow the crowd : Looks at all the hype and then decides to follow the crowd only to realise that it was not the best deal
  11. Failed Product: Buy an LTD and it goes belly-up and then buy another to replace it. Sometimes one LTD does not deliver, then next and then next
